East of Eden Organic Farming: The right to safe, healthy, and nutritious food

Our lives are full of surprises, and sometimes, the very things that happen to us, which were meant to cause us harm, end up being the inspiration behind our new direction in life.
East of Eden organic farming was founded on the understanding that every human being has the basic right to safe, healthy, and nutritious food, and this has become very personal to me.
When my oldest daughter was about three years old, I was taken aback by the kind of strong medicines that doctors would want to prescribe for a simple cold, flu, or if she had a fever or some type of infection.
I began wondering what the alternative might be and reflected on my own health—I was hardly ever sick. Then I recalled that my great-grandmother lived to 106, remaining healthy until the end, and my grandmother (who was 92 at the time) reached 102 before passing of old age in good condition. I realized this longevity probably stems from the spices we’ve always used in our cooking, handed down through the generations.
These are spices like garlic, ginger, turmeric, cloves, and lemongrass. These spices are full of health benefits, which detox our bodies and strengthen our immune system.
I then began to understand the importance of what we eat and the amount of harmful substances that we ingest mainly from what we eat but also what we apply on our skin meaning the creams and lotions, shampoos and other chemicals we use on our hair, toothpastes we use in our mouths, make-up and even fragrances that are full of chemicals and very harmful to our health.
This is how I eventually found myself doing training in organic pest control.
I began organizing organic pest-control trainings based on the hands-on experience we’ve gained in our organic farming, with the goal of empowering others to grow safe, non-toxic, nutrient-rich food, free from harmful chemicals like glyphosate and other toxins linked to today’s lifestyle diseases, including cancer.
Too many people, including children, are dying unnecessarily due to the chemicals that we find all around us and especially in our food, drinking water, and the environment.
This is avoidable if we can be patient and re learn the ways of old when it comes to producing our food the natural way without chemicals and other harmful inputs that are detrimental to our health.

We train individuals from different walks of life on organic pest control and teach them how to formulate these solutions at home or on their farm, using simple ingredients and plants instead of the harmful chemicals that are being pushed by big pharma and agrochemical companies.
The people who have attended our past trainings were farmers, including conventional farmers who wanted to transition to organic farming, and we had people who were already doing organic farming but wanted more knowledge and information on organic pest control. Some people were just interested in not using chemicals at home in their garden, on their flowers, in their kitchen gardens, and they all came and learned a lot about how to formulate different organic pesticides.
We started by teaching them the importance of soil preparation, for that is the first place to start, setting the foundation to ensure that whatever is planted grows to be strong and healthy. The truth being that it is when plants are strong and healthy that they can first and foremost fend off, for themselves, the pests and diseases that are attacking them. When they are weak and do not have strong roots then they easily succumb to the pests and diseases that they’re faced with.
It’s like a newborn baby still in the womb; whatever the mother feeds on or puts on her body will affect the baby either positively or negatively.
If the mother eats healthy, nutritious food, she sets the foundation for the baby to be healthy and have a strong immune system even before birth, therefore enabling the baby to better fend off viruses, infections, sickness, etc.
It is the same with our soil when we plant our seeds or seedlings in healthy, nutritious, vibrant soil, the plant will grow strong and healthy, better equipped to fend off pests and diseases.
